Description This small oil painting is of some sea shells that my daughter collected here on the many beaches in Tenerife. I really like the variety of shapes, patterns and colours on the shells. It reminds me of the sound of the sea, sandy beaches and long hot summer days. I am sure that it will be a long term reminder of our first full summer here.
Jennifer Bray, Canary Islands Member Since August 2008 Artist Statement Hello, I am a self- taught artist living and working in Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands. I am originally from West Yorkshire in the UK where I worked as an accountant. Becoming an artist was not a viable option for me in the UK, so my family and I moved 2000 miles to the sunny island of Tenerife to allow me to follow my artistic ambitions and make art full time.
The climate here is very different from that in Yorkshire! The sun is always shining and I have almost forgotton what its like to be out in the rain and cold that is so common to Yorkshire. I think that there is lots of inspiration in the Canary Islands for visual artists, the scenery here is quite breathtaking.
I am very creative individual and like to paint anything and everything that inspires me. I have recently returned to art after a gap of over 20 years and will be posting the art that I make here in my imagekind gallery. I mainly paint with oils but hope to try other mediums in the future.
