DescriptionOil on Canvas16' x 20'This is a very limited palette painting, in which I made use of greys and browns to model the figure and background. I think it reflects elements of futurism and cubism.
Ian Malcolm, Bailey, Colorado Member Since April 2009 Artist Statement I work primarily with oil color, and in a variety of styles. Classical realism has been my focus, though I’ve made an effort to develop my skills in a wide range of styles, and I’ve done pieces that reflect the forms of futurism and cubism, as well as other abstract approaches. My pieces reflect my effort to develop in my use of bold brush strokes, refined details, and knife work. Artists whose work I admire, and who influence me, include Johannes Vermeer, Rembrandt van Rijn, Peter Paul Rubens, Pablo Picasso, Wassily Kandinsky, Lee Krasner, and others. My goal is to continue to develop a skill set and a range of techniques that will enable me to grow in building a diverse body of work. Please contact me if you are interested in an original painting!
