Description As the sun sets over Avebury and the fog descends, a lone stone marker stands sentry at the entrance to the Avebury Stone circle. The light is amazing. The sky is luminous.Avebury is home to the largest stone circle in Europe and is one of the best known prehistoric sites in Britain. This photograph was taken on the winter solstice in 2007.
