Description A lone chickadee perches on a branch of wild rose berries in this painting. The wild swamp roses bloom along the river and in early autumn their fruits (rose hips) cluster in red, rose and orange among the dark green leaves. While rose and gold may not seem traditional autumn colors, the subject certainly is. A quiet understated realism and soft background contrast with the detail of the subjects give this painting a peaceful feeling.
