Artist Statement I was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to Dr. Dinshaw Mehta, a Parsi from India and Sarah (Sally) Ethel Mackay from Charteris, Quebec, Canada.

When I was a young girl my mother used to sing beautifully and draw and encouraged all her children to enjoy the arts. There was a time when she sent my sister and I to the Museum weekly for drawing lessons with Mrs. Velcoff as our teacher. My father`s love for music and art was also a very strong influence in our lives.

I am the youngest child with two siblings, Michael D. Mehta and Tamara T. Vieira and have many family members I am very close and proud to have as relatives. As a very close knit family, with various talents, we have all given each other a lot of support and I believe that has made us all much stronger people.

My husband, Gary Cripps, has embraced my love of painting and has, at every turn, pushed me to delve further into my heart so that I may portray my feelings on canvas. I have a wonderful step-daughter, Ainsley and beautiful grandson, Dylan. who paints with me when we get together. I thank everyone for their strong support in helping me to accomplish my goals.

Painting is a passion for me, and it is a major part of my life. I am a self taught painter and every year learning more techniques. I love to paint landscapes, nudes, flowers, street scenes, seascapes, pastoral and abstract art. It’s a matter of both left brain and right brain being in perfect balance that makes me complete.
