Andrea Preda, Valencia, Spain Member Since March 2012 Artist Statement I have been working in the animation industry for more than twenty years and never truly got exposed to colour. I always used black graphite on white paper. That is probably why, most of my paintings are following the same principle. My regular work requires a lot of precision and due to this, I need to ballance this out with lose brushstrokes when I paint in my spare time. With my work I travelled extensively and have spent nearly a decade in Taiwan and China. The big influences I got from Asian masters are very much present in many of my works. If not always in the looks, at least in the execution. I love working with ink as a medium as it is unpredictable and full of surprises. It runs freely and lives it´s own life on a sheet of paper, and requires very little guidance from my side. I find breathing a very important part when painting with ink. It is to me a very meditative process, and helps to ballance my paintings. Nevertheless, I do like experimenting in the digital medium as well. My digital works are still a combination of analogue drawing, finished off in a Japanese paint programme called SAI.
