Sally Siko, Fuquay- Varina Member Since April 2009 Artist Statement I am a native of northern VA (just outside Washington DC).
As a child I have always wanted to make my mark on something. It never mattered the medium or the materials used, it was all about the finished product looking exactly right to me. I loved to paint and draw and would do so whenever I could.
I was an apprentice tattooist with Exposed Temptations Tattoo in Mannassas, VA and an artist at Snakemans Tattoo in Charlestown, WV.
I have spent a few awesome years navigating the automobile industry's in's and out's , making a bit of money and a ton of friends along the way.
Once I became a mother I decided to hand over life's reins a bit to my husband and take over the duties that needed to be filled at home.
Life is short, I really feel that I have been blessed with the gift of time spent with those whom I love the most.
I discovered photography was a great way to express my creative nature in a way that wasn't as much as a time consumer as painting or drawing was. It is also an activity that I can include others in as opposed to needing peace and solitude for painting or drawing.
It has been challenging at times to get my artwork noticed in the competitive world of photography as I am working with a pretty basic editing system ( no Adobe Photoshop here!) however I look at this sitiuation as "on the job training" for me. If I can master my technique for creating artwork that catches your eye and leaves my own satisfied at the end of the day then I must be doing something right, Photoshop or not..
With a hurried pace we run the paths of our busy days it seems all too common that we miss the beautiful little details that make up the fabric of a purpose driven life.
I hope that my work inspires others to stop and examine the evidence for a clear and elegant design which can be found in the smallest and of-ton the simplest order of things.
Again thankyou very much for your intrest in my artwork,
Have a Blessed Day,
Sally Adams Siko
