Phil Wilson, Pittsburgh Member Since July 2013 Artist Statement Phil Wilson graduated at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh – 1968. He has 45 years of professional illustration experience and over 18 years in the animation industry.
Phil Wilson is a world renowned illustrator for his works with: Walt Disney Co, Disney's Guide for Grownups, Time-Warner, Golden Books, National Geographic Books, McGraw-Hill Publications, Greenleaf Publications, Innovative Kids Books Inc., Mickey Mouse Magazine, Little Mermaid Magazine and many more…just to name a few.
He has garnered numerous awards for his work and has been inducted into two halls of fame!
In the 1983 at the New York International Film and TV Festival, Mr. Wilson won “The Bronze Award" for a Children's Animated TV Special. As well, was awarded the “Best of show” for two years in a row by Children's Educational Magazine Publishers as well as numerous Addys.
He designed 9 original supporting characters for Disney storybooks and has created illustrations for more than 75 now published children's books.
His illustrating style ranges from cartoon to highly detailed realism, with specialization in classic Disney characters and scientifically accurate dinosaur illustration, working with world-renowned paleontologists like Jack Horner on numerous projects. Phil has given us a look at what dinosaurs really looked like. Awe inspiring and captivating, every illustration is high-energy and a brilliant feast of color!
