Description Southerness lighthouse is located at the village of Southerness in South West Scotland. It is at present the second oldest lighthouse in Scotland. First lit C.1800 and decommissioned in 1936, the towerr stands 17 meters high and would not be out of place in Pisa. Just visible in the distance is the wind farm situated in the Solway Firth.
Derek Beattie, Newton Stewart Member Since May 2010 Artist Statement Scottish based photographer residing in rural southwest Scotland, started taking photographs a lot of years ago with my first SLR a Zenit-E and only recently rediscovered how much I enjoy the world of photography.
The majority of my images are landscapes from the Southwest of Scotland with a good number from the far north of Scotland, my favourite photographic location, which I absolutely love.
