Artist Statement " I seek the capture of extraordinary, quintessential beauty in compelling compositions of the ordinary".

LuAnn Ostergaard was born in Pasco, Washington. to an artistic family of painters, craftsmen and musicians. Always free to create anything anytime in a house and workshop full of paints, brushes and tools. While she admires many trained artists, she feels she benefits from not having formal art training and is entirely self taught. This allows her to make fresh contributions to the art world in her own distinctive style.
In her early years, she was inspired by the desert countryside of Eastern Washington to create collage and assemblage works using recycled materials before it was the trend. Moving to the Pearl District of Portland Oregon in the 1990's, the vibrant art scene there inspired her in many ways. The advent of digital photography interested her and after the purchase of her first Nikon digital camera, she became fully immersed in the discipline. Rustic decay of the desert and urban influences of the city took shape creating an interesting contrast between two worlds, forging the extraordinary eye for color and balance revealed in her striking abstract digital photography compositions.
"Very few would see the potential of a shot as you see it and the fact that you do, singles you out as far more than an ordinary photographer" UK Ranger states.
She has won recognition and awards for her work, winning the Chancellor's Award, WSU's Chancellor's Art Exhibition Series 2008; 53rd Annual Artists' Exhibition, Larsen Gallery, Yakima Wa. 2008, purchase awards, Argus Insurance and Larsen Gallery Guild purchase award, Larsen Gallery, Yakima, Wa., 2009.
LuAnn is a full time professional artist and shows and sells her work in major top 10 juried art fairs, including Sausalito Art Festival, Scottsdale Art Festival, Bellevue Art Museum Artsfair, and Art In The Pearl Fine Arts & Crafts Arts Festival, Portland, Oregon.
LuAnn currently works out of a home based studio and resides in Rancho Reata, Kennewick, WA. Her husband, Michael and son Joseph are also full-time fine artists and sculptors.
