Description Stephen Bantu Biko was a noted anti-apartheid activist in South Africa in the 1960s and early 1970s. A student leader, he later founded the Black Consciousness Movement which would empower and mobilize much of the urban black population. Since his death in police custody, he has been called a martyr of the anti-apartheid movement.
Devon Grey, Austin Member Since July 2008 Artist Statement Devon Grey was born in a rural southern town in Ontario on July 23rd, 1977. Like most children of his generation, Devon found himself a product of television and pop culture. Raised an only child, he spend the majority of his childhood alone, often drawing the world around him and mimicking the fantastical worlds of comic books and fantasy.
Devon divides his time between film, painting and various media studies. Previous to his studies in Brock University’s Honours Program, He had studied Graphic Design and Interactive Multimedia at Niagara College, and taught at the Trebas Institution in Toronto, Ontario. Devon has participated in group and solo exhibitions in Canada and the United States.
