Description This painting was done at the same time as Summer Poppies (my California poppies painting). My focus here was mostly on the grasses and stalks of the flowers. I was interested in showing how they intertwined with each other and became a tangle in the meadow. The shape was very important as well, wanting to show beautiful shapes and angles as they leaned and intertwined with each other.

My name is Suzanne and I’m a self-taught artist working in acrylics.
Painting is something I wanted to do for a long time before I started doing it, born out of a desire to play with colour. For years I found myself falling in love with colours, one after the other, needing to surround myself with objects in those colours. But it wasn’t until I moved west and settled in the mountains that my desire came to fruition.
Now I paint every day, inspired by my surroundings. I love the whimsical nature of trees and flowers and tend to put most of my energy there, translating what I see into terms of light and shadow, energy and movement.
