Description This painting was created from a photo that inspired me. Painting white on white is always a challenge and i enjoyed bringing out the colors of the impending storm in the white hide of the horse.
JILL ROBERTS, Anza, CA Member Since October 2011 Artist Statement Originally from Central Ohio and painting at the early age of five, Jill’s artistic desire became evident quickly. Growing up in rural surroundings, she was influenced by the rich colors and ever-changing scenery of the landscapes, weather and wildlife.
By the age of 17, she had become a well-known artist in her community near Zanesville, Ohio through her artistic achievements, including airbrushing vans, motorcycles and other vehicles while beginning a career in painting wall murals and scenes on canvas.
After high school, Jill attended the prestigious Columbus College of Art Design where she majored in Advertising Design with a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts.
A 30-year career in advertising, graphic design and the printing industry has awarded her years of experience in marketing, special events and promotions. Jill is now inspired by the landscapes, weather and surroundings of Southern California, where she is fascinated by the play of light and shadows. Painting objects in still-life settings, where controlling the light and set up also provide an ongoing appeal and challenge. Her favorite media is acrylic because of its brilliant color and flexibility.
Whether she is painting large wall murals or on small canvas, the process and journey of creating and applying paint never ceases to amaze, entertain and inspire her on to greater challenges.
A well-know personality and fixture in the Temecula Valley, she has recently moved to the high country of Anza, California where the elevation provides more big sky and far-reaching views of the rugged terrain.
Jill is also a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow and enjoys riding horses with her family.
