DescriptionI use a 400 year old Flemish technique that involves painting in layers. This produces superior results both in the effects that are found in the work, and it's longevity. It is guaranteed to last a lifetime without fading/cracking if kept out of direct sunlight under normal room conditions.I've been painting using the multi-layered technique in oils since the mid 70's and have never had a single painting returned for rework due to craftsmanship or materials defects. Actually, I've never had one returned for any other reason either. Once you have a beautiful piece of art in your hands I guess folks like to hang on to it.These strawberries came from a local garden (u pick and save) type farm. After picking all morning, cleaning a few, I set these aside for painting!Close up views will show the depth and details not usually found in paintings today. Seeds, highlights and subtle nuances and color tone changes that are present in this little jewel. Highlights within the glass make it so real appearing. Then, standing a few feet back, it looks like they are ready for the blender and mixing for an adult beverage! They are beckoning you to take one of these sweet summer pleasures.
Delmus Phelps, Lynchburg, Virginia Member Since February 2009 Artist Statement I've been painting for over 30 years part time, but went from managing the maintenance of a 2500 strong factory to painting flowers full time just a few years back.
Boy, what did I get myself into! I'm now chasing the dream before I was to tired to try, and it's been so exciting!
