Description The original photo to this was taken in New Orleans in front of some really cool eateries. I wanted to stay to a bright and funky vibe. Framed this would look great in any space. Suggestion: Buy a print of this and of Vibe of the City for a set of perfect pieces to go with almost any decor.
Katherine Bunschoten, Indian Trail, NC Member Since March 2009 Artist Statement I've been a painter for close to fifteen years now, the last four of which I've owned my studio and exhibited professionally. As a child I moved frequently to which I now attribute my love of culture and travel. This passion for life and the everyday moments we frequently take for granted is the push behind the work I do. As far as background, I am the personification of a distinctively southern mother and british father. We've lived in the Shenandoah Valley, the foothills of the Oachita mountains in Oklahoma, the flat lands of Central Mississippi, the levees of the Mississippi River outside of Natchez (where I was born), as well as St. Albans, England, where my father's family has lived for centuries. I moved to Amsterdam and married ten years ago then lived in Ireland. Most recently I'm staying in Northern Kentucky and enjoying the beauty of bluegrass country. Mainly self-taught with professional instruction during my high school years, I research the work of various schools of art constantly and use this in my own technique. I'm a avid fan of new realism, figurative painting, and the "new masters". Perhaps in stark contrast I also love the work of graffiti artists such as Banksy, urban art and abstraction. Most recently I've started venturing into photography and applying the concepts of painting composition to the camera lens.
