DescriptionThis is just beautiful example of what nature is up to all the time. I was waiting for a friend outside the MaeBashi train station In Japan and decided to look around to see if there were any photo opportunities. Just outside a local police office near the station, there were these sunflowers. As I was taking photos, an officer came out and we chatted and he told me about the two varieties of flowers that were growing there. I took a few more shots until my friend came and left. I had no idea what a beautiful gift nature, by way of the local police, had given me until I saw it on my computer later.I recommend viewing its 'Companion Original Image' (http://timdressler.imagekind.com/ Password: theordinary) to see this unique object in its rather pedestrian surroundings.
Tim Dressler, Takasaki, Japan Member Since August 2012 Artist Statement I was born 5 July 1950 in San Antonio, Texas.
Before coming to Japan in 1990, I was a better than average photographer in Los Angeles; mostly actors' headshots.
Now, I'm a better than average English teacher in Takasaki, Gunma.
As an English teacher/photo-enthusiast, when I'm not correcting my students' syntax, I like to spend hours and hours every week riding my bike through the streets and sleepy neighborhoods of Takasaki looking for art in ordinary places. I hope you'll enjoy what I've found so far.
Besides the "art" photos I'm offering, you might be interested in seeing the "ordinary" locations where the art was found. Please email me and I'll send you the super secret password so that you can see that gallery too!
In addition to the joy I have found through photography here in Japan, I have also found and been married to the most wonderful Japanese woman for eighteen years; and I look forward to many, many more happy, healthy years together with her in our cozy little apartment in Takasaki.
