Anna Chunn, Sacramento River Delta Area Member Since December 2012 Artist Statement Anna Chunn is an artist based in Northern California. Working in both watercolor and acrylics, her work encompasses both representational and abstract forms.
"I have always had a creative side to my nature. My work started as a fiber artist, painting silk scarves. Each of my scarves is a one-of-a-kind piece. This is sometimes referred to as wearable art. My interest in watercolor is a result of painting on silk, as the techniques are both similar. Over the past five years I have found watercolor forces me to let go, allowing the paint some freedom to do as it wants. It's a test of patience and control, which in the end is very fulfilling. I've recently begun exploring acrylics, with an emphasis on abstract form. This medium really allows me to tap into my intuitive instincts when painting. I find abstract design challenging, but also completely rewarding. Though both medium are very different from one another other, they both force me to think before I approach the canvas."
