Roxy Riou, Long Island Member Since November 2008 Artist StatementFEATURED ARTIST - April 5, 2009
Always an Artist at heart, I was raised in Greenwich Village, certainly when it was the Bohemian center of New York City. The people, architecture, concepts, and small-town living in the middle of a big city helped to form how I see the world - and the rest is formed by my own personal brand of Life-Thought.
I love to see the everyday Magic in Nature, in our Universe and within Us. My art is inspired by many things, and comes from the Heart, with help from the Muses that stop by then and again.
Oh yes - lots of Metal & Rock Music as the mood requires!
Welcome to my Art and Photography galleries...while strolling through, you will see options for purchasing artworks as prints or on canvas. Of course, you also have the opportunity to have them shipped to you already framed and matted. There are many creative choices so that you can be sure to find what will fit your personal decorative styles.
Thank You so much for visiting - I hope you find something that touches your heart, and that you will be happy to see in your own home or office.
A *Big Thank You* to those who have purchased my art - I'd love to hear from you!
Peace & Bright Blessings!
A bit more detailing for those who want to know:
Photography on various Canon digital cameras. I find the digital format wonderfully freeing in that I don't have to worry about whether I will run out of film - I can snap away to my heart's content! I have older photographic works which will be arriving in my galleries as I am able - these may end up being treated as canvases for paintings, or may hold their own in their simplicity - I am excited at the prospect to see many of my older gems as larger prints.
Most of the paintings here are executed with a Wacom tablet. I use the digital paints and brushes as I would my regular paints and brushes, etc. It is wonderful to work in a digital medium by incorporating the techniques, brushwork and detail of traditional painting - the thick quality of impasto or the silkiness of thinned oils, the translucence of watercolors, the mixability of pastels - several paintings in the works at the same time...all with the space-saving opportunities of a computer as my artist's studio.
Thank you for your interest - I hope I have shed some light on my artwork, and that you will enjoy your "walk" through my galleries!
