DescriptionSunset from the deck of the Oasis restaurant overlooking Lake Travis in Austin, Texas. Beautiful, warm evening (in February!) on the lake. During the summer, this place is packed every night for the sunset. But even in winter, there was a good crowd here this night to hear the bell ringl (The Oasis rings a bell at sunset every night, literally.)
Mark Schaffer Member Since January 2009 Artist Statement Mark Schaffer was born in Pennsylvania, but began his love affair with photography in college at NC State in Raleigh, NC. Mark lived up and down the east coast though college and jobs in his field as a materials science engineer.
Mark moved to Texas to take a job at Dell Inc. and found a place to settle down and call home. Mark has immersed himself into the “Weird Austin” experience and taken many pictures of local importance. He has taken pictures for local events such as Dennis Quaid’s Texas Hold ‘Em and Golf Weekend, Look For Love Charity Event, and the Senior Olympic Games. Currently, Mark has his own environmental consulting company - www.knowsgreen.com.
For the past several years, Mark has been traveling for work and taking photographs of some of Europe’s greatest architecture. He has an affinity for the lines and light that play around beautiful buildings. His travels include Paris, Vienna, Shanghai, Rome as well as around the US.
He has become interested in HDR (high dynamic range) photography recently and has learned how to manipulate his images in Photoshop to intensify the colors to really make them “pop”.
