Description Known as The Coat Hanger by local residents due to its arch based design, the Sydney Harbour Bridge opened in 1932. It is the world's widest long-span bridge and the tallest steel arch bridge. It measures 440 feet from top to water level. It is possible to climb to the top (you can see some people doing that on the left side of the bridge). Original photo.
