DescriptionAs we sat in a foriegn port a fuel tanker came along side and gave our cruise ship a whole lot of bunker crude. The bow of the vessel was right under our stateroom when I captured this shot. The sun was low on the horizon and the azure blue water that surrounded the vessel gave the bow of the vessel a beautiful frame.
Jack Watson, Port Orange Member Since August 2007 Artist Statement Film maker, author, musician, airline pilot (retired,) airshow pilot...but most of all a photographer. Guess that's how I'd describe myself in general terms. I've been a pro in the visual arts business for over twenty years (mostly film and video) but my love for still photography has always been what moves me emotionally.
The still image is an opportunity for a photographer to change the viewer psychologically...if just for a moment, without all the sound or action in a motion picture. As almost all my motion images were done with profit and customer satisfaction in mind I longed for the day that I could do what I wanted...when I wanted, without regard to profit or client demands. THAT TIME HAS COME.
The images I will be posting on this site are for all to behold, and if so inclined to purchase. They are what moves me. Be it beautiful women, hot rod cars, landscape or architectural...you name it I can find a way to enhance it's beauty. I recently retired from the airline industry after a lengthy career as a captain flying big jets around the planet. You'd think that would have been enough for one lifetime...not so. It only wetted my appetite for capturing images of all that is beautiful on earth.
As my art evolves, I to evolve. My life has been somewhat of a fantasy. The way I see it, you can either leave a piece of yourself behind, or become a lost chapter in the lives of those around you. I hope the former will be my epitaph..I left something behind, Hopefully it's not a cheesy commercial but a beautiful image of my recollection of life and the beauty it presents to me daily.
