Description From Original Oil Painting 'Recounts In Deshabillement', 40' x 30', by Esperanza Dickson. The girls just came home to their tiny apartment, with just a few minutes apart from each other. After a long night of their usual duties, they sit together at dawn to tell their stories. Laughter, amazement and incredulity are all mixed up in the eagerness to hear the latest gossip from each other.
Esperanza Dickson, Santo Domingo Member Since July 2010 Artist Statement I am a self taught contemporary Dominican artist. My attraction and admiration to relevant Art styles in History, such as Renaissance, Mannerism, Baroque, Romanticism, Impressionism and Realism, are present in all my oil paintings. These styles have great influence in my modern artwork.
I like to use eye-catching combinations of colors, which result in remarkable contrasts. Human figure is what attracts my attention mostly. Frequently I give fantastic backgrounds to my figures, trying to settle on canvas my imagination and curiosity. There is always a story, a memory or a moment that sticks to my mind, long and strong enough, leading me to give it shape with paint . When I put them down on canvas, it is with a special twist. The way I see them takes me to create with an uncommon, but very interesting point of view of things.
