Artist Statement "The pursuit of perfection is a most elusive thing.. i've been chasing it all my life"

Photography is my first passion. Something I’m driven to do.

My work spans more than 40 years. I still have B&W negatives from a Brownie box camera I used to photograph the aftermath of the 'Good Friday Earthquake' of 1964. I was 11 years old then. I’ve shot with everything from half-frame 35mm to 4x5 view. Prior to the advent of desktop publishing, I operated my own Pre-press Lithographic trade shop. We produced loose color seps with a Hell drum scanner and ad-slicks for local businesses. I still have a copy of my first biz license for IPSO FACTO PHOTO from 1977. During that time, I maintained a second darkroom at home with 3 enlargers so I could produce my own composite black & white images and experiment with alternative processes.

Today, I shoot a mix of digital SLR and medium format, depending on the subject or project objective. If I shoot to film, I scan it and do all my ‘darkroom’ work in Photoshop. Something I've been doing since version 2.5.

I also maintain a travel site for folks over 50 like me who don't care much for health spas or golf, but love to explore new places. It features lots of photos-
