Armand Munera, Bogota Member Since August 2009 Artist Statement I live in Colombia, South America, went to school in California and have been an artist since can remember. I usually enjoy living surrounded by nature which is unbelievably beautiful here. For many years I wandered around the world and still travel a lot mainly because I like to go where art is happening, whether in a museum, the streets of Paris or the ruins of Machu Pichu. I conceive art as the Great Mother of Culture, the White Goddess of Poetry and so try to convey it in my work which is necessarily figurative. Man is the center of our Universe as Leonardo has stated in his art. In mine I try to explore modernity yet stick to certain rules of classical heritage. I have participate in many shows with other artist since 1974 where i showed for the first time in the Modern Museum of Bogota. I also work in theater as translator and designer, write short stories and am often just quiet. My livelihood? I teach English.
