Description Homes such as this one take their inspiration from earlier cottages built by Hugh Comstock "The Builder Of Dreams". In 1924,he built his first cottage for his wife who made and sold " otsy-totsy" dolls. As their home filled up with dolls, Mayetta asked Hugh to build a house from which she could sell the dolls. Hugh was neither a builder nor an architect, but he loved to draw and tinker. He designed and built with Mayotta a whimsical little cottage, Gretel, on Torres near 6th, inspired by the watercolor illustrations of the British children's book illustrator Arthur Rackham.
Linda Hartong, Leawood Member Since December 2007 Artist Statement For seven years, I designed gardens using my camera to show my clients what their gardens would look like. During this process, I fell in love with the camera as a way to show my interpretation of the natural world. Now , retired from design, I can not put the camera down. It records my most precious moments and beauty that continually amazes me. It has become the way I share my world view.
