Description I titled this painting 'The Liberty Sun' because the spikes of the sun bursts reminded me of Lady Liberty. I had it in mind when painting that this picture could hang with the sun rising up or setting down. It was a real pleasure to paint this work and I hope you will also enjoy it, Thank you!
Steve St-Amour, Ottawa Member Since November 2011 Artist Statement I was born and raised in Ottawa, Canada and grew up loving art from the day I picked up my first crayon and applied it to the kitchen wall. Although I am mainly self taught having taken very little formal art classes or training, each day is an opportunity to be creative and learn. I love to experiment with techniques and styles and will often use photography and sketches to research and develop my subject or theme.
My paintings are a reflection of imagination and imagery used to draw the viewer into a whimsical world through the representation of landscape. Whether the painting is abstract or based on social realism I draw on memory and past experience to establish a concept or theme.
Working mainly with acrylics, I truly enjoy the whole creative process and find each step from concept to design to finished work to be greatly satisfying. It is my one hope that my love of painting and art is carried through the work and experienced by the viewer.
