Description This area of the Boulders is called 'The Shute'. The water course is so deep in places no one has found the bottom. Several of the young men who have died in the Devils' Pool have drowned in this very spot. The beauty of the area is so great that young men still are drawn to swimming in this place.
Peter Gray, Townsville Member Since February 2009 Artist Statement Beautiful one day, perfect the next. This is my home, Townsville in North Queensland. We have the Great Barrier Reef one side and Tropical Rain Forrest the other. Breath-taking beaches and Islands all the way up and down our coast, plus, amazing waterfalls, creeks and rivers just a stone's throw away. My wife, Jeanette, and I have a photography business (mainly weddings and portraits) which we have operated for the past seven years. We have been blessed with five beautiful children and now with three grand children. All of them living not to far away. It's always good to get out of town and get into nature. I love photographing people and weddings but I much prefer capturing a beautiful landscape. The gear I am using at present is a Nikon D700 on a solid tripod with a cable release. I carry both a wide angle lens and a modest telephoto lens.
