Description Our social conditioning and programming shapes our rituals and traditions to the point of blindness, ignorance, insensitivity and in this case, a butchery and carnage of a beautiful animal disguised as a popular spectacle while crowds of people cheer on and celebrate its brutal death.I do celebrate the artful, skillful, vibrant, colorful and courageous clash between man and beast here, but it would never justify the premeditated, systematic, institutionalized, desensitized, look-the-other-way killing of a spectacular and wonderful creature.
Mauricio Arcesio, California, USA Member Since February 2013 Artist Statement My purpose here is to celebrate and manifest, visually, creatively, humanly, moment to moment, this awareness of being alive and this much restlessness as we move and flow with Life itself; and to elevate and validate our collective humanity one person at a time, along this journey and through the experiences upon which we have all embarked and are so privileged to be a witness to. Happy travels !!
I'm still trying to figure out my calling while on Planet Earth.., and I say this with much appreciation and humility, given the wonderful, fascinating, addicting pursuits this Life has to offer. But in the meantime, I like to paint, draw, design, sculpt and explore everything that I can get my hands on, including chocolate, sushi, tequila shots, Latin jazz, salsa and bachata dancing, scuba diving, cooking with friends, women who like ice cream and who laugh openly, Life outdoors, breakfast in bed, Goethe, autumn leaves, imagination, people from all cultures and walks of Life, long naps, awareness, elephants, a beach nobody goes to.
