Description 'The Wash House' is my interpretation of an Orpen original circa 1900. I love his use of light and color with background. With my interpretation I added more shadow to define light source and if there is any question about what the woman coming down the stairs is carrying it's another full laundry bag.`Available for commissions if you desire to have something special. Kevin Meredith, Denver Member Since January 2013 Artist Statement From my childhood spent on a farm in the Midwest thru my years of academia at the University of Kansas School of Fine Arts to present, I continue to refine my craft in the world of fine arts. My inspirational point in painting is to tell a story, capture a memory, real or imagined. To create something that might move your spirit and stir in you that same passion by which I am driven. A couple American artist masters that embodied this approach in their life time of work were Homer Winslow and of coarse Norman Rockwell. There are many others but these artists are my favorite. Their use of color and an ability to convey emotion thru the stroke of the brush.
Thanks for visiting and my hope is that in some way my work moves you.
