Description It is just another panel of names that surround the South Pool of the US National 911 Memorial, panel S-68 to be precise. But it receives more than its fair share of visitors because it contains the name of Todd M. Beamer. On 9-11, Beamer was aboard hijacked Flight 93. From cell phone communications he knew that hijacked planes had crashed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. As the plane turned to the Southeast, presumably toward Washington, DC, Beamer and 3 other men stormed the cockpit to take the plane back. The plane crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania killing all aboard but saving untold numbers on the ground if the plane had reached its planned destination. Beamers last audible words were, 'Are you guys ready? Okay, let's roll.As you can see in the photo, Beamers name shines out, not because it was engraved any differently than the others, because so many want to somehow make a connection to Beamer by touching or rubbing his name.
