Adriana Mekan, Denver Member Since January 2010 Artist Statement Biography:
(To be continued...)
Over the years of practicing fine art, I have finaly come to obtain my own personal style that I think satisfies my viewers as well as myself. Although I tend to stick to ink and graphite as my mediums, I am still very much intrigued with all of the mediums; even the unthinkable. Especially the unthinkable! Working with the mediums that I show does not mean that there is not more to be seen behind the scenes. In fact, plan to spend time with each medium to the point of understanding and making a connection with it, as I feel I have with my past and present mediums. Nonetheless I am confident in the future works that will come to pass.
I have always thought that more could be added to a work of art. I have come to realize that this point is when the image fulfills it's desired effect on the eye and the imagination. In other words, a work of art will tell you when it is finished versus the other way around.
My most recent works involve the combination of reality and fantasy. With the use of various techniques and mediums, each of these pieces portrays not only a theme but also a story along with it. Each viewer can perceive these stories differently from another and that is exactly the response I expect from my work. I want the viewers to not only be visually integrated in my work upon first glance, but also to take a second look and really "see" what is happening in front of them.
