Andres Villela, California Member Since February 2012 Artist Statement It's my goal to explore the personal freedom found in creativity without construction of any kind. This desire for personal freedom is usually spawned when limits or boundaries are implemented on one's mind. There are limitations, but it is far more beneficial having personal revelation of them apart from any presuppositions. I believe everyone is an artist and their work will be as unique and original as their fingerprint. Whether it is in photography, painting, sculpture, or music, to name a few, I am confident that any work establishes the expression of one's being in any form, at every age, at all levels, regardless of its reception. I once wrote that, "my best paintings were accidents, the best sculptures were spontaneous, delightful poetry never spoken and the greatest ideas never written”. With much of my work I see it only as a journey. Journeys that may never end, after all, most people say that life is a journey yet never truly arriving at its destination. I intend to continue painting and sculpting toward all the creative possibilities that are found within as well as various amounts of self-expression that one finds along the way. I’m trying to live a simple life having complex ways of thought. Trying to get what we all desire - a sense of self-worth. I find this not in the world but simply in creating things.
