Description Another free association creation, likely tapping into the feelings of younger parts of the artist's mind, perhaps an attempt at internal communication or reaching out. Much of the last 3 years especially have been spent feeling much much younger then the birth certificate would imply, the dissociation freezing much of the psyche near the ages of 5 and 12.
Katie Kay, Midwest Member Since August 2008 Artist Statement As 20-something college student, an artist, a writer, a certified mental health provider, a sister, KatieKay also is in the process of surviving a disability, a mental illness. Due to childhood trauma, Katiekay has been diagnosed with a Depersonalization Disorder as well as Major Depression.katie plans on graduating college in December of this year with two Bachelors degrees. She battles through each day to make it to the next and has survived enough for many lifetimes. The gallery here is in hopes of off setting the costs of her continued higher education (grad school) as well as her daily living expenses as she has been receiving Social Security Disability for quite some time and struggles bellow the poverty level. Another hope of sharing her work is to increase awareness and education of mental illness and to help support those who suffer through it.
