Description United We StandThe other day as I went to vote, I stood in line like many other fellow Americans awaiting a poll worker to processes me, so I can vote. She came and gave me a clipboard with the obligatory papers to fill out and sign. She came back took the paper, asked for my drivers license and we spoke a few words. It was something about the paper and I forgot to fill out a part. She looked at my drivers license and then asked me Wherre you from?Imagine a perplexed look on my face: I said, Isnt that on my drivers License? She said: No, I mean what country? Well being the nice polite person that I am, I simply gave her little run down of my International roots From Germany! I said.I am used to being asked that question, having lived here for over 20 years, I simply can not shake my accent. Which is neither German nor French and people have placed me from Australia, to France to Germany and some other nations. I understand peoples curiosity and I usually dont mind. I did find it odd that a poll worker would engage me in that sort of questioning. I like to think it was just her innocent curiosity. Its a funny concept the United Idea I mean. I often ponder the question, what does United mean. To me United is not the same as being the same thinking the same doing the same Talking the same, but it seems to be confused that way, by some anyway.Being Alike in order to unite? I find it a scary and boring concept. How does a real American dress? What does a real American sound like? Whoever figures this out, let me know, because to me the American Spirit is just that. Its an intangible spirit of Uniting and Reconciling all the different shaped and colors, sounds and gestures in to one picture. Its the spirit of knowing you can be different and its OK, but not only OK more so, in America differences are celebrated!

I am an independent, self supporting artist, working full time on my art. Full time means about on average 12 hours a day seven days a week. I have not had a non working vacation in over 10 year. Luckily I love painting, I love art, I love what I do. I also have three rescue cats, one is chronically ill and has to be hand nourished three to five times a day. I live every day as if it is my last. Art and creating is a release for me. On my blank canvas or paper, I can create any world I like. Thank you for purchasing my art.
