Description Boats dream to the sound of water lapping in the afternoon Adriatic light. Water gives a magical quality to a cityscape, catching changing light, throwing reflections and rippling patterns across the passing hours. Venice is known as: City of Water City of Light and City of Bridges as it stretches across 118 small islands in the Venetian Lagoon along the Adriatic Sea. It has been a flourishing center for trade for millennia and at its peak was the wealthiest city in Europe - a fact written in stone in the wonderful wealth of its architecture. It is a lively city, animated by the vibrancy of its bustling inhabitants and the thousands of visitors who wander its intricate maze of lanes, passageways and waterways and almost inevitably fall in love with the Queen of the Adriatic
