Description Venice - a city you visit in order to change the pace of your life to fit the pace of your heart. Watch the world from a gondola and you begin to understand the songs sung by the gondolier. Venice is known as: 'City of Water ' 'City of Light' and 'City of Bridges' as it stretches across 118 small islands in the Venetian Lagoon along the Adriatic Sea. It has been a flourishing center for trade for millennia and at its peak was the wealthiest city in Europe - a fact written in stone in the wonderful wealth of its architecture. It is a lively city, animated by the vibrancy of its bustling inhabitants and the thousands of visitors who wander its intricate maze of lanes, passageways and waterways and almost inevitably fall in love with the 'Queen of the Adriatic'
