Artist Statement: Color has been an important concern throughout my career. The vibrant palette I use is influenced by time spent living on a Caribbean island, where the light is intense, rendering color its most brilliant.
Informed by visual and cultural elements, I use a contextual approach to color, shape and space. I often employ surf vocabulary as titles to the work. In this way, the concept of surfing is used metaphorically.
In early 2008, I began an ongoing body of work, The Paradise Project. The work alludes to escapism, perception, disillusionment and longing.
Creative expression is the poetry of life- a record of one’s dedication, obsession, meditation and reason.
