Description Activists in hundreds of cities including New York are protesting economic inequality. unemployment, and the wealthiest one percent of the population for buying political power that is used to block taxes on the rich and to slash social services for the poor. The gap between the rich and poor has grown too wide to justify; the rights of the rich and the rights of the poor in America have grown far apart. Taxation with fair representation has been usurped by powerful corporations. Police barricaded the narrow streets around Wall Street, home to the New York Stock Exchange, and used batons to push protesters onto the sidewalk as they marched through the area.
