Description Summer is short and sweet in the Colorado high country. For a few weeks in June and July the tundra comes alive with a rainbow of colors. On one of these days, Leigh and I headed up for Pass Lake, near Loveland Pass, for a picnic. In spite of threatening rain clouds, we spread our blankets in a sheltered spot and sat down to enjoy the scene. When Leigh fell asleep I had a chance to wander through the area and capture this panorama of flowers, water and the Continental Divide above Arapahoe Basin Ski Area.
Bob Berwyn, Summit County Colorado Member Since December 2007 Artist Statement I'm a freelance writer and photographer based in Colorado and trying to travel the world. Along with recording nature's beauty, I'm determined to document some of the environmental threats to the mountains, forests and rivers of the world. Most of the photos in my first modest Imagekind gallery were taken in the past year and inspired by my incredibly patient, loving and supportive girlfriend, Leigh, who traveled with me to some of the most amazing places in the American Southwest. That's why my favorite image in this batch, While You Were Sleeping, is dedicated to her. The shot was taken on Loveland Pass in Colorado, during a picnic that turned into a memorable al fresco nap at 11,000 feet up in the Colorado Rockies. I'll be rotating images through the gallery when the mood strikes, so check back often. And, who knows, if I actually sell some photos here, I might upgrade to a bigger account, so I can share more of these amazing scenes. Thanks for visiting.
