Stacey Bonham, Winterset, IA Member Since September 2009 Artist Statement Hello. My name is Stacey Bonham. I was born in Nebraska and now reside in Iowa. Since I can remember, I have enjoyed creating all types of arts and crafts. I was raised attending craft shows with my mother, aunt, and grandma, as they sold their hand-made creations.
I first began by selling my items at craft shows with my family. It was after open-heart surgery in 2003, that I realized the importance that art played in my life. Since my surgery, I have been diagnosed with having Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome - hypermobility, which is a connective tissue disorder that affects any connective tissue within the body. Art plays such an important role in my life. It has become my own type of therapy. My art helps me to convey my passion for life and love for the simple blessings. Looking back on my life thus far, I realize that God has had a hand in each step I have taken. Without the grace of God, I would not be here today. My spirit and passion for life are conveyed in each piece I create.
Today, I paint commissioned art pieces, sell to local businesses and attend art/craft festivals as time allows. Thank you for the opportunity to share my talents with you!
