Masako Simmons, Newport News, VA
Member Since March 2010
Artist Statement Born and raised in Japan, Masako had lived and traveled to Paris, London in her late twenties before residing in the United States.
Though she always had an interest in art, her career started as a fashion designer. She studied apparel fashion design and worked as a fashion designer throughout most of her twenties. However, many years of soul searching brought her to the realization that art is the purpose in her life.

Her style is influenced by surrealism, especially Salvador Dali’s artwork. She also is attracted to imaginistic, which is a new art movement termed by a photographer, Thomas Hodges. Although her works are primarily abstract, she is also inspired by human beauty and sensuality.
