Martin Devine, Linlithgow, Scotland, UK Member Since November 2006 Artist Statement Martin originally discovered an artistic ability in portraiture and wildlife, moving onto landscapes which have now become his recognized field in a very distinctive style.
Employing colour theory, varied use of tone and differing brushstrokes to present a contemporary image of the landscape, aiming to change the perception of the landscape seen by the viewer : inspired by minimalism, spare with detail, encouraging a regard for simplicity. Employs colour, abstraction and line to give distance in sky and land, sometimes altering tonal values and other times verging towards flat blocks of colour to emphasise basic shapes.
Work exhibited in mixed exhibitions in various UK galleries since 2006, featuring in North Berwick, over twenty paintings featured at The Figura Gallery in Windsor, and again featured in Scottish Border Gallery. Has become one of Artery Gallery in St Andrews best selling artists, with three sold out exhibitions to date from 2007-2009 (as featured in Scotland on Sunday).
Currently has full exhibition schedule : contact Martin for further information on current and future exhibitions (see contact details below).
