Description The owner of this mask claimed it was purchased in the Congo. I photographed it as part of a MLK holiday celebration in Manila. My eye is attracted to the strong black and white grooves chiselled on the face.
Harold Bonacquist, Istanbul, Turkey Member Since December 2008 Artist Statement I am a native New Yorker, currently living in Istanbul. I have lived all over the world and have a large inventory of travel shots. (My Buddy Icon is a shot of my daughter and me at Hong Kong Disney World.) You can see some of my work on www.haroldbonacquist.com. My more recent work involves heavy manipulation in Photoshop. A common comment I receive is, “I can’t believe that’s a photograph!”
In June 2006 I was a Featured Photographer at BetterPhoto.com; in 2005 I was a Finalist, Association of Photographers competition (Yellow House); and also in 2005 received an Honorable Mention, in the International Photography Awards competition (Blaha Family). I have had one exhibition, the 2006 “Rhapsody in Art: Museum Without Walls,” South Street Seaport, New York City (pieces from The Great Wall In Early Spring).
