DescriptionPlease view the enlarged version by clicking on the image. This fun and unusual piece was painted on a paper sack, and you can see part of the sack on the image. That's on purpose. It was painted in acrylic and is somewhat abstract. The bottle is in the midst of confetti, suggesting a party or celebratory atmosphere.
Lenora De Lude, USA Member Since January 2007 Artist Statement I was born and grew up in Louisiana, and much of my art reflects that. My Louisiana roots are deep, going back many generations. I suppose that makes me a "Louisiana artist," and that is a part of who I am.
I create art because I have an inner desire to express thoughts, emotions, and revelations. Each piece rekindles the desire to put out something next time that will be even more compelling, more interesting, more telling.
Although painting is my main discipline, I sometimes find myself using colored pencil, ink, pastel, and other materials as my mind concocts the final product. The process usually begins with an inspiration, and I begin to find the best composition. Sometimes I draw the basic structure; other times, I go straight to the paint and begin to mass in the main shapes. The process continues with smaller and smaller details, until the artwork tells me that nothing else is necessary.
At this writing, I can see that my works, almost of their own accord, are developing a characteristic of luring the viewer into the piece by means of texture and perspective, often in mixed media. While I believe the artist should be essentially in control, this is one of those times when I am allowing a pathway to take me where it will. In this vein I continue to create art. Although I can never duplicate the work of the true Creator, I have been given a drive to aim ever higher, spiraling upward all the way.
