Shahid Hussain, karachi Member Since June 2007 Artist Statement Shahid Hussain, born on Nov 25 1962 in Lahore, a flourishing land for Art and Culture in Pakistan. his father Nazir Hussain sculptor ,painter passed out from a renown institute” Mayo school of Art” in 1954,so art inheritably transferred to Shahid ,as he grown up he saw his father working as a well known film modeller ,his house was crammed with statues related to those movies depicting various subjects ranging from civilizations, history and historical character and myth or fantasy, all were strong enough to influence a thought of Shahid, this massive influence not only helped him discovering his way, but also remain a part of his dreams always and provide him an everlasting energy.
In 1975 his father started working as an Architectural ornament modeller for interior decoration, there Shahid was assisting him. In 1990, shahid established his independent workspace named Royal art studio”. In 2000, the preferences of his studio shifted from interior to garden ornament. here important to mention ,that from any aspect of his work he traveled through….sculptor was always the main objective not only satisfied him in “sculpture pieces” and “relief portraits” but also he did ornament having all characteristics and pleasure of a sculptor.
Till 2005, Shahid turned the mood of his sculptures and ornament from realistic or any specific style and era, decided representing his own feelings. His “abstract and simplest” sculptures and “calligraphy” are best shown of himself.
In Islamic art “calligraphy “considered as sacred importance along art so related to this Shahid choose very strong element “design” as his subject.
Shahid was told by his mother that at the age of four, for the first time he draw and explained was “Mother and Child” even if today Shahid search deep down inside him, he found that subject existing along all freshness and charm within himself…… but now, not just as a mother and child but with all the realities of nature.
