Description This Kitchen Car was built in 1953 by the St. Louis Car Company. It is an updated version of kitchen cars that were produced during WW 2 - those cars were shipped overseas for use during the Korean War. The car's purpose was to prepare meals on ambulance trains. Kitchen car facilities include a double oven coal stove, ice boxes, food storage lockers, hot water heater, three sinks, a pressurized water system and even a shower. Original photo taken at the Northwest Railway Museum, Snoqualmie, Washington.
