Artist Statement One year at sea...
I am a sailor training as an officer on the Great Lakes of North America. Part of my training involves spending twelve months over two years on board a ship. By December, 2011 I will have spent eight months on board a freighter plying the waters from Duluth, Minnesota to St. John's, Newfoundland. The experience has already given me plenty of time and opportunity to create a great photographic journey.
My prints portray a sailor's view of this part of the world; I have tried to capture everything from daily life on board a freighter to some of the unique sights the ship has encountered.
The prints already span three seasons and over 20,000 nautical miles of travel.
