Description Print from one of my original acrylic paintings. This old farm house is a few miles from where I live. The existing house is very weathered and about to fall down. I wish the house could talk, I am sure it is full of stories about the farm families that once lived, worked and loved there. A remider to us that it wasn't aways an abandoned house with abandonded memories.
Toni Grote, beautfiul rural Iowa Member Since October 2008 Artist Statement I am blessed to be an artist and am honored when my art connects with someone in a way that is meaningful and brings happiness to their life. God has given me an awesome talent, I am so thankful that I paid attention to it and painted down this journey of faith.
I attended Iowa State University and was enrolled in the Graphic Design program. This was my major for three years before I switched to a different major. Although I believe my college classes are invaluable, I would still consider myself self-taught. I have been working at being an artist for close to 17 years now. I have experimented with different mediums, subject matters and being that I am self-published have made the efforts to learn about marketing and the business end of being an artist.
I am a versatile, prolific Iowa born and raised artist. I work with the mediums of acrylics, alkyds, watercolor and a mixed media of watercolor and colored pencil. My subject matter ranges from snowmen to horses and cattle to fruit and landscapes. All of my art is inspired by the connection I have to Iowa and the serene beauty that I see around me.
I have started a daily painting project, where I try and create/post at least one painting a day. So far it has been a great adventure. Please check out my Blog and Daily Paintings at www.artisttonigrote.blogspot.com
