Designed by San Diego architect Richard Requa in 1935 the garden is patterned after the gardens of Alcazar Castle in Seville, Spain, lies adjacent to the Art Institute and Mingei Museum.

The artist resides and paints in San Diego, California and is a member of the historic arts colony at Spanish Village Arts Center in Balboa Park San Diego.
