Description This wise old tree as been here much longer than most of us. Withstanding violent storms, the intrusion of man, droughts and time itself. Trees are one of the most useful gifts from the earth. Providing us with oxygen, shelter from the rain and gentle rustling sounds on breezy days. Homes for birds, beautiful to look at and shading us from harmful UV rays. How can we just mercilessly chop them down without a second thought?Original photograph with a complimentary color palette and added texture.
Shawna Rowe Member Since July 2012 Artist Statement I grew up in a creative family who loved photography, music, art and random hiking adventures. That helped me to develop a love for nature and artistic expression early on. I've never limited myself to one particular medium but I do favor graphic shapes, bold colors and whimsical style. Whatever the medium, I try to include some or all of those elements in my work.
My family has always been a big inspiration and they feature in a series of satirical cartoons that I've done just for fun over the years. Each year I make a new cartoon to celebrate each of my daughter's birthdays. I've also made my own greeting cards for family members over the years.
Lately, I've been making detailed magazine collages. Each one is made of 100% recycled paper cut into tiny shapes and carefully applied much like paint onto canvas. It's an art-form that requires a lot of time and patience but I love this unusual way of creating. Thank you for visiting my gallery!
